Looking to transform yourself in 2017? Start from the inside out, says Dr. Kate Naumes, a holistic health expert with an office in the Knox area of Dallas. In addition to the obvious—plenty of water, exercise, sleep, and a diet of clean, whole foods—she suggests starting a month-long refresh on January 2. Eliminate caffeine and alcohol and sip on matcha tea instead. Stick to a low-dairy diet focusing on proteins, whole grains, and complex carbohydrates, as well as plenty of fruits and vegetables. Naumes also recommends dry skin brushing (toward your heart) to help improve lymphatic flow, and facial rejuvenation acupuncture to tighten skin and get rid of wrinkles. Forget Botox. And don’t ignore the mind-body connection: meditate for 10 minutes a day to help manage stress. It’s an easy way to feel brand new.
