The National Academy of Sciences has elected two UT Southwestern scientists into its membership. The distinguished honor was given to Donald Hilgemann and Margaret Phillips, who were elected by their peers for their achievements in original research. Hilgemann investigates sodium transporters and how they regulate of the heart muscle, and Phillips has identified metabolic pathways in parasitic protozoa with the hope of developing malaria treatments. UT Southwestern now has 25 faculty who are members of the NAS.
