The Bank of America Charitable Foundation awarded a $350,000 grant to Parkland Foundation to support the health system’s walk-up COVID-19 testing sites.

“Parkland’s commitment to building a healthy community has long been appreciated in Dallas, and even more so the past few months as this health and humanitarian crisis continues to take its toll,” said Jennifer Chandler, market president for Bank of America, Dallas via release. “Supporting Parkland’s important work through this grant gives them a greater ability to reach underserved populations with free testing in neighborhoods that have been hardest hit by coronavirus, and it is an important demonstration of our commitment to address economic and racial inequity.”

DFW has been one of the hardest hit areas in the country, and Dallas County has consistently ranked among the top counties in the country for the number of positive cases. Bank of America has made a four-year, $1 billion commitment to address economic needs and racial inequality, and the grant is part of that effort. BoA has committed $2.1 million to North Texas nonprofits as the region deals with the impacts of the pandemic.

“As Parkland continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, this generous gift from Bank of America will help fund critical walk-up testing sites to help slow the spread of the virus among the most vulnerable in Dallas County,” said Michael A. Horne, EdD, president and CEO, Parkland Foundation via release. “Bank of America has been a steadfast supporter of Parkland, and we are extremely grateful for their continued support.”

Parkland’s walk-up sites can test anyone over the age of five, with or without symptoms who lives the City of Dallas or Dallas County. The locations, which can perform 250 tests per day, are below.
