Last night I got an email from Kevin Marple, D Magazine’s esteemed food photographer. He asked if I knew what was going on with Hattie’s executive chef Estevan Galindo. I went to the chef’s Facebook page and found notes from friends who were leaving messages that they were shocked by his death.

I don’t have any details. Galindo, who has been the chef at Hattie’s since 2009 and was also the chef at C. Senor in Bishop Arts. Galindo was also the executive chef at Dallas Chop house from October 2012 to March 2013. Off the record, two industry people referred to Galindo as a “great guy.”

His longtime friend and fellow chef Anastacia Quinones of Oddfellows told me: “Estevan always had a smile on his face and would quickly tell you to brush things off when something bothered you. He was so generous and kind and a good friend. There are no words to describe this loss.”

According to several of his Facebook friends I contacted, Galindo was around 40 years old.  We send love to his wife Jessica Galindo and his extended family and friends.
