Listening to his nostalgic, smoky voice streaming through a music video shot entirely on film, it’s easy to forget that Houston-born, Dallas-based singer-songwriter Thomas Csorba is only 23 years old. The artist prides himself on making music for old souls, folksy tunes in the tradition of Townes Van Zandt and Woody Guthrie. That classic style and distinct twang ring loud and clear in “Heartache After Heartache,” the second single from Csorba’s self-titled sophomore album.

The record, produced by Beau Bedford and featuring members of The Texas Gentlemen, is set to release in September, and it’s already generating a fair amount of buzz. (Speaking of the Texas Gentlemen, they just released their own new album, which you can stream here.) “Heartache After Heartache” was added to Spotify’s Fresh Folk playlist this morning. The music video came out yesterday.

It was shot on Super 8 film in Csorba’s Dallas neighborhood, and it has the same sentimental, gritty feeling as the music. Go ahead and have a watch.
