That’s Moody Performance Hall To You, Bub

The venue formerly known as City Performance Hall has been rechristened as part of a $22 million gift for ATTPAC.

The Arts District’s 700-seat City Performance Hall was rechristened today after the Dallas City Council approved a $22 million gift from Galveston’s Moody Foundation benefiting the AT&T Performing Arts Center. The Dallas Morning News has the details on the 14-1 (Philip Kingston opposed) vote.

About $12 million of the Moody money will go toward ATTPAC’s debt, with the other $10 million designated for an endowment to support small arts groups, which has the potential to be the most important part of this whole thing once it all shakes out. Still, controversy over funding for the arts isn’t likely to go away anytime soon.
