Robert Plant Covers Milton Mapes’ “The Only Sound That Matters”

|

NPR has been streaming Robert Plant’s forthcoming Band of Joy album for the past week or so. It’s really great, and I urge you to check it out. Of local-ish note: one of the songs contained therein, “The Only Sound That Matters,” was originally performed by the now-defunct Milton Mapes. That band was started by Greg Vanderpool, who has deep roots in the Deep Ellum music scene, and now plays in Monahans, part of Lance Yocum’s Spune stable.
