Although public school districts have been hard hit by the pandemic, Dallas ISD has consistently been an example of innovation and achievement. The district has developed choice schools, rewarded their top teachers, and made strides in recognizing systemic racism in efforts to serve its more than 150,000 students.
In Dallas ISD, 86 percent of the students are economically disadvantaged, and the school system is faced with the task of providing much more than just academic knowledge. Through community and business partnerships, Dallas ISD continues to push to educate students and prepare them for the next stage in life.

Gabrielle Madison is the director of community relations for Thomson Reuters, where she is responsible for community and educational partnerships throughout the country that build brand awareness and advance the mission of the organization.
Dustin Marshall has been a trustee on the Dallas ISD School Board since 2016. In addition to advocating for students by emphasizing data and rewarding the district’s top teachers, he is also CEO of of Hazel’s Hot Shot, a Dallas-based logistics company.
Drexell Owusu is the vice president of education and workforce at the Dallas Regional Chamber, where he works to grow the region’s workforce. Prior to his role with the chamber, he founded and was the CEO of Brave Capital Partners, which used investments to empower minority communities in Dallas.
